The terrain is mostly flat and all beautiful. There are some stony places\, so shoes or boots are recommended. The terrain is mostly flat. Bring a brown bag lunch and we’ll eat together after we ride. \nDIRECTIONS:  From Westfield\, take Rt 20 West to Huntington center.  Turn right onto Rt 112 north and cross the the green bridge. Go about 3-4 miles and go past Rapids Restaurant on left & for Rt 66 on right.  Stay straight on Rt 112 for about another mile.  Go past  Knightville Dam Rd on the right.  Take next right (look for the Army Corps of Engineer sign) onto dirt road down a hill.  This is rough at the beginning\, but it gets better. SUMMARY:2019 WRC Games Day
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 10\, 2019: WRC Games Day\n(Rain date 8/11/19)\nWestfield Riding Club Grounds\n29 Fowler Rd.\,\nWestfield\, MA \n\nDescriptions of Classes\nSimon Says\nExhibitors must accomplish tasks as directed by the announcer with the cue\, “Simons says….” Riders who perform the tasks without the cue are out. Leads and diagonals will count. The game is the same for in hand– just leading instead of riding. \nEgg & Spoon\nRiders or handlers will carry an egg on a spoon through the class. The one who keeps the egg on the spoon the longest wins! \nWater Race \nRiders or handlers will carry a cup of water through the class. The one who has the most water at the end of the class wins! \nLead Line Candy Race\nOn GO\, mounted lead line riders will be lead to end of arena. Their handlers will help them dismount\, then the handlers will bring back horses to the starting point with the riders following behind on foot\, gathering as much candy as they can. The rider who gathers the most candy wins. \nCarrot Race\nExhibitors ride from the in gate to the other end of arena and dismount. There\, they pick up a carrot and use it to persuade their horse to follow them back to the starting line. The game is basically the same for in hand\, but the handler runs down with horse in hand. \nScurry\nRiders or handlers move their horse through a course that includes going over two cross rails\, around a barrel and go back over the two cross rails to start line.   \nWalk/Trot Sit-A-Buck\nEach exhibitor must ride bareback. Upon entering the ring\, the judge places a piece of paper (approximately 3” x 5”) under the rider’s leg between the knee and buttocks. The horses are then worked at a walk\, trot\, and canter both directions of the ring. Any rider not performing the gaits asked by the judge in a reasonable amount of time is eliminated. As exhibitors lose their paper\, they are eliminated. The last to lose the paper is first; next to last\, second\, etc.  \nPole Bending Pattern  \n*In Hand Pattern:  Weave down\, Run Back  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nKeyhole Race\nThe starting line will be 50-100 feet from the entrance to the keyhole. The entrance will be 4 feet wide and 10 feet long\, connected to a circle 20 feet in diameter; this forms the keyhole. \nContestants will cross the starting line\, proceed through the entrance\, turn right or left in the circle\, making a complete 180 degree turn. Then the contestant will exit the keyhole through the entrance and cross the finish line. The contestant will be disqualified if the horse steps outside the chalk line marking the key hole. \n \n  \n  \n  \nBarrel Race

The Ski Club is about a mile & a half down on right. There are some stony places\, so shoes or boots are recommended. The terrain is mostly flat. Bring a brown bag lunch and we’ll eat together after we ride. \nDIRECTIONS:  From Westfield take Route 20 West. At the junction\, turn LEFT onto Route 23 West toward Otis.  Go 16 miles to the center of the town of Otis.  Turn RIGHT onto Route 8\, then immediately turn LEFT to continue on Route 23. Continue on Rt. 23 past Otis Ridge ski area. After about one mile\, turn LEFT into the parking lot of Otis State Forest. SUMMARY:McDonald Farm Nature Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Our May 20th Ride has been moved to a new location due to maintenance on the roads at Robinson State Park.  We will be riding at McDonald Nature Preserve in Wilbraham MA. \nRide out at 10:30 \n2 to 2 1/2 hour ride \nBring bagged lunch for after the ride \nMcDonald Farm Nature Preserve\nWashington Road\nWilbraham\, MA \nDirections: GPS address 60 Washington Road. There is no actual street number for McDonald Farm Nature Preserve but the last house on the right before the parking lot is 60 Washington Road. To get to the parking lot you will be going through a residential neighborhood. Take the side street next to Crazy Jakes Restaurant in Wilbraham. The side street next to Crazy Jakes is Grove Street. It shortly turns to the right and becomes Manchonis Road. Continue only a short distance to McDonald Way. McDonald Way is not on Google Maps. After turning right onto Manchonis Road look for the first brick house on the left and it will be followed by a white house on the left. There is a street sign that says McDonald Way Nature Preserve on the left after the white house. The address of the white house is 70 Manchonis Road. McDonald Way looks like a driveway and is a one lane small road. Take a left onto McDonald Way. See  a street view image from Google Maps of the entrance to McDonald Way. This is just a short street that goes to Washington Road. Take a left onto Washington Road. Follow a short distance on a dirt road to the end and it will bring you to McDonald Farm Nature Preserve. The ride takes approximately 2-2  1/2 hours. There are some stony places\, so shoes or boots are recommended. The terrain is mostly flat. Bring a brown bag lunch and we’ll eat together after we ride. \nDIRECTIONS:  From Westfield\, take Route 20 West to Russell. Turn left on Blandford Stage Road (just after the State Police barracks and across the street from the Russell Inn). Go straight for a couple of miles to Ski Club Road\, which is on the right. The Ski Club is about a mile & a half down on right. DESCRIPTION:The 19th Annual Equine Affaire in New England!  Equine Affaire takes place November 10-13\, 2016. Experience the nation’s premiere equine exposition\, featuring more than 230 unique clinics\, seminars\, and demonstrations by top professionals in the horse industry. Equine Affaire also hosts the largest trade show in the East\, showcasing hundreds of commercial exhibits\, an extensive Breed Pavilion\, an educational Equine Fundamentals Forum\, the Versatile Horse & Rider Competition\, and a special evening show – the Fantasia\, a musical celebration of the horse.  Adult admission is $15/day or $50/four-day pass and includes admission to all presentations.
